Our soft tissue laser emits a concentrated light beam that targets your infected gum tissue, and it allows for less bleeding and a faster recovery than traditional treatment methods.
Laser gum disease treatment is not a painful procedure, but you may feel some discomfort for a few days afterwards.
Is Laser Gum Treatment Painful?
Before your procedure, we’ll completely numb your gums with local anaesthetic so you won’t feel anything during your visit.
Once you’re numb, our dental laser gently vaporises the diseased tissue.
After a few hours, the numbness will wear off, and you could experience some soreness and tenderness, but you should not be in pain.
To alleviate any discomfort, we recommend taking over-the-counter pain relievers, eating soft foods and, after 24 hours, rinsing your mouth with warm salt water.
It’s also best to avoid any tobacco products, as they can slow the healing process.
If you experience any unusual side effects, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
